On Monday, the Canadian government presented a national strategy for shipbuilding.
The new strategy of working out together with relevant ministries and departments, involves three areas - construction of large vessels, construction of small vessels and their maintenance, staffing and maintenance plan. Plans call for the involvement of regional shipyards, as the Government will oblige the winning shipyard contract for work subcontracted to other shipbuilding companies.
Minister of Public Works and Public Service Rona Ambrose said - "our government has decided to support the Canadian shipbuilding and shipping, to breathe new life into the Canadian shipyards and build ships for the Navy and Coast Guard of Canada in our country. The new strategy will bring predictability to the supply of vessels and eliminate periods rise or decline, bringing obvious benefits to the industry of shipbuilding and navigation. "
